I need a better method to manage my browser bookmarks. What's your favorite method?

When we renovated the extra guest room into the Art Room, a lot of junk got moved into the main guest room while we decided where to store things. Yesterday I tackled that. I got done to about 75%, I'll finish the rest of it today. I'm in an organizing mood today. I feel a need to manage my things. I'm pretty certain it's a psychological need to put something in order, to feel in control of some aspect of my life. And inanimate objects can't act like a jackass.

It looks like I will have a second job soon. And just to make things clear, I am not currently unemployed. I am working, albeit not on a large scale. So when someone says to me "oh, it will be nice for you to be working again" I say, "fuck you." The new job is going to be part time, technical, very creative, and a lot of fun. I'm not going to say anything more about it until I have a start date because there are still things to be worked out. Personally, I'm looking forward to a good excuse to buy clothes again! Working from home has been awfully easy on the clothing budget.

I'm using http://del.icio.us/ to gather up bookmarks, tag them, group tags together, and access everything from the three different computers that I use regularly. I like it, esp. the firefox plugin that lets me add urls with one click. :)

Looks really cool! Any security concerns with this service? ...It's too late now, because I just installed their toolbar buttons for Firefox. :/ Realized only after I did it that, "HEY! This could be doing bad, secret stuffs!" :/ Bad Jen. Where's that paranoia when I need it?

The toolbar itself is really simple code, it just brings your current url to the post url page at del.icio.us, nothing malicious there. The privacy concern is that your urls are public, so that the site can rank url popularity. So don't put things on there that you'd be embarrassed to have others know that you bookmark. :)

Good to know! Doesn't the "not shared" feature keep your URLS private?

You know, I never noticed that feature. :) Yes, that's how that should work, and I'm going to enable that option now on my list - thanks!

Oh, *thank YOU*! This site is awesome! It's going to take me a loooong time to clean up the mess that is my bookmark collection from various machines and saved files from machines I no longer even have, but it's going to be soooo fabulous finally being able to keep all of that info organized and in one place!

True. Except for the occasional insane tangle of clothes hangers (I was organizing the closet last week)--but clothes hanger tangles can be sworn at, spat at, and assaulted with few repercussions, so they still come out ahead. :

Awesome news on the job front. I hope it's as great as you're expecting it to be *and even more*!

Getting a new computer or new browser and starting over. ;)

Seriously, I've been using blinklist.com a lot. I can tag and bookmark my favorite links online, which means that no matter what computer I'm on I can access my bookmarks.
