Brian and I had fun on Saturday by heading out to gun shops. The nicest one we went to for selection was in Davison. I did NOT like the salesman Brian talked to so much, however, that I walked away. We will probably get our guns there because we will want to use that range and they have a good reputation for knowledge and service, but we will not be buying from that person. He just had attitude. I know what I want and I know why I want it. I don't have to explain if I don't choose to and I don't appreciate his commentary of opinion over fact. I've done my research.
We also went to the Flint Home & Garden show, which was very nice. Lots of things we're looking at. A shower insert. An outside wood burner. Geothermal heating with radiant heat. Lots of cool changes coming to The Hermitage.
We also got a new coffeepot this weekend as we wore out yet another one. This one is a 14 cup, our last was a 10. This makes me happy.
I did a lot of knitting this weekend trying to finish my mom's birthday present. It's not gonna get done in time, but I'll get close. And close will have to work.
The thing I am most excited about is a project that Brian revealed to me and I got all excited because it's something that will happen, and it can happen this spring!
Those of you that have been over to the house may remember the small planting area by the front door. There has been a weeping cherry tree there for a number of years that is getting too big for that space. It's bordered by the garage on the west, the bay window of the living room to the north, and the guest bedroom to the east. Well, we are going to tear out everything but the porch...
...and put in a water feature!!!!! There will be a waterfall and it will be deep enough for Koi. Between the driveway and the porch, we're going to put in a wood walkway bridge (flat, not arched). We still have to design it, but this weekend we started listing what we wanted and we're seeing the same thing.
We decided this winter that we were going to focus on improving the look of the front of the house. It's going to be bold!
