Saturday was a trip to the farmer's market, the butcher shop, Sam's Club and the record store. (Tubes, Jazz, Joni Mitchell, and Terrence Trent D'arby. What? Don't judge us!). A brief rest, and then out to Bass Pro to get ammo and targets, then Border's for a book fix.
Sunday saw us out shooting after a delicious breakfast, and the decision to get better sights. Then to Walker Farms and Wojo's for plants. I got Wormwood, Archangel, New England Aster, and White Sage, along with tarragon and pretty annual flowers in shades of lavender, periwinkle, and orange. Back home to plant and clean up some of the gardens. I had lots of basil, summer savory, and rosemary seedlings waiting to be planted. In between, I made delicious fresh first of the season potato salad. Let the summer begin!!
Today Brian did this: (which is, so far, only 1/2 of the tree he fell a couple of weeks ago)
While I did this:
Prior to the birdbath planter, it was only the bottom ring and it was a fire pit that got used exactly once. This was Brian's concept, but I decided to build it. I love how it came out. The flowering plants will cascade over the edge as the summer wears on. Those are peonies in the upper left. The location, for those who've been here, is at the end of the sidewalk just in front of the gazebo, across from my herb garden, on the side with the frog pond (which is no more...that's where the other pavers came from)
Brian just took me to Dairy Boy for a jumbo pink lemonade slushie to which I just copious amount of tequila. Let the slacking commence!!!
