No, not just me, you clowns!

My New Grill!!!! Yes, I finally got my new grill. I have been wanting one for about 3 years now, but I wanted something very specific. It had to have a lot of features that I want/need/lust after.

And yes, I realize that the flavor from a charcoal grill is superior to a gas grill, but I don't like to go through what it takes to use on a daily basis. In the summer, I use the grill nearly every day that I cook. I like to take my kitchen outdoors. So I now have an outdoor kitchen!!

Brian will be building me a spot for it closer to the house where I will be able to cook outside comfortably even through the winter, though certainly not as often.

Before I show pictures and talk about features, I want to do a short tribute to the Ducane that kept us well fed for over 12 years. It was a grand grill, really quite an investment at the time. I was so excited to have it since it was my first workhorse grill. It would do about a dozen burgers comfortably. I guess that's one of the measures of size these days. It had a rotisserie and two burners.

In recent years, it started the rapid descent into entropy where we'd clean it well at the beginning of each season, but the BTUs were declining and parts were starting to wear and the grates weren't level any longer. It was finally time.



I can't say Rest in Peace, because it's still in use...somewhere. We took it out to the curb with a sign that said

It was gone withing hours. I hope the new owners get some awesome cooking juju with this grill.

The smaller section is an infrared searing grill. Basically you sear your food here, the move it to the regular grill to cook to temperature. I predict perfectly cooked steaks.

I've used it three times since getting it on Friday. I've done a slow roast chicken on the rotisserie and burgers and everything came out delicious and perfectly grilled.

I'm thrilled with my choice. And now I can cook for a small party at one time instead of in waves. More time to socialize!

My boyfriend would have a heart attack if he saw that thing in real life. I think the interior lights would officially put him over the edge. Have fun!

I had an upgrade this summer too. Have to wait until I get my yard where I want it before pictures though.

the whole charcoal gas thing is a moot point to me. With gas you can still easily do any number of smoking techniques that will give wood flavor. Even with my little grill I used to do a tea smoke now and then. Works great.

Ooohhh. Not to quote Hank Hill or anything - but with the right gas grill food can taste every bit as good (we used them all the time at Red Lobster). That certainly looks like the right gas grill.

So when are you going to bring it over?

*giddy* That's fabulous! I'd gladly give you the exact address to plan your trip. We are right off of M-15. We also have a guest room for crashing. You can get Jen & Craig to attest to it's comfort.
