Home: Stacked nearly 2 face cord of wood in an hour yesterday. (face cord = 8' L x 4' H) Mine were a little longer than 8' and only about 3' high. Still, it made a nice dent in the pile. I bet we get 10 face cord out of what's left to be split.
Late yesterday afternoon, Brian and I noticed a lot of smallish black birds coming into the back yard. We slowly went outside and the sound was totally bizarre. The back acreage is all hard wood trees and the forest floor is all old leaf cover. There was a rustling that made the entire woods sound alive. The trees were full of the birds, but the floor was covered with them and they were burrowing under the leaves. I suppose they were foraging for bugs. But the sound was so surreal. There were hundreds of birds and they stayed about 30 minutes. So wild.
Work: Manager is back from vacation today. We'll see how work goes. I'm wearing teflon in to work to day, just in case. I have plenty to keep me busy these days.
Book: Wrote yesterday. Smoothed out the first chapter, which is about half finished at this point. I like the flow. I feel a little like a big ol' steam engine that has just been started for a journey up a mountain. I've got the power, it's just getting it going that's the challenge.
