The office flight attendants announced that we were flying over Hawaii and brought around ice cream with pineapple or coconut and leis for everyone.

I think I may actually want to work on Fridays.

Just Wow.

Your Credit union sounds like the most awesome place to work since. . . . . . . . Gaah! Since the dot-com bust!

Here's another cool perk. This applies to anyone who works there for more than 6 months (I'll be there a year at the next one).

They have an employee appreciation party. The board of directors allows the CEO a budget of somewhere around $40 to $50k for the party. A small part of that is for hall rental/food/drinks. The rest is for buying gifts. Those people there over 1 year get in the first drawing. 6 months and up in the second. Managers in the third. When your name is drawn, you go pick out a gift. This year they had 42", 35, and 27" flat screen TVs. A 7' slate pool table. A generator. Vacuum cleaners. Computer systems. 30gig video iPods. Cameras and printers, camping packages, high end baby monitors, jewelry...enough for everyone who goes to the party to get something. About 100 of the 120 employees attend. It's quite an event.

I think because they really do push and expect a lot out of the employees, that there is a huge payoff for making the employees feel appreciated and encouraging fun. This credit union is known for it's exceptional customer service. All employees are credit union members, and therefore share in the benefits to being able to offer the best rates. It all ties together and they do quite a job in making the work day as upbeat as possible.

Feel like commuting to Burton or Lapeer? *grin*

I interviewed with a company in Ortonville back in the fall of last year that I was willing to commute for. There's pros and cons with every job, right now I just want to like what I do and love who I do it with. :-)
