4 hours left in my work week. It was a powerful three days of kicking butt and taking names, but I feel really good.
I told my girl, Stasha, something that I just recently re-learned. The crap really isn't significant when you are so busy doing something that matters that you forget to give it energy. It's so easy to be embroiled in drAma when you aren't paying attention to what's really important in your life. And drAma with all it's accouterments (sarcasm, character assassination, self aggrandization, and the like) really and truly do not matter. Brian has a mantra he's been using on me for a year now. *chuckles* Tenacious snot. "It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks."
Having my folks over for dinner tonight, alchemuse
over for silliness only we can achieve tomorrow afternoon (we should call this the Fixing the World if they'd only listen to us Summit), and heading over to Brian's folks on Saturday to see his sister from Colorado and her family.
I'm writing again. (something else that Brian convinced me of was to not give my unfinished stories to self-important amateurs to read, which had stalled my efforts by making me questioning my ability. Envy coated in arrogance isn't as tasty as it seems when it's presented on a 'good for you' platter)
I got the best haircut of my life two weeks ago. The blond in my hair is now a wonderfully unnatural shade of red (on the cool, bluish end). The CEO saw it and gave me an awesome comment. It's nice to be able to go back to a fun look. These folks really are great. And they keep giving me cool little gifts for doing my work. My manager gave me an on-line Entertainment card that's good for a year of coupons for food and cool stuff. There're coupons for hobby stores!!
We're currently in a bit of a bind at work, hence my being there three days this week, which will continue for a few more weeks. When I started there, it was me, my manager and the marketing assistant. She went AWOL the day after Memorial Day. Called from the west coast and pretty much said not to expect her back. It wasn't the job that did it, but her personal life. This has left us seriously short-handed. We hire from within 90% of the time. Interviews are today. Hopefully we will get the position filled and start training in the next few weeks. I can't wait to find out who will be on our team now. With the right person, I think we could really do some amazing work.
On Wednesday, I get to present the morning training. I get to show off all the cool stuff I've done on the web for them. I have plenty of work between now and then, but I'm eager to show it off. We're going to be opening a new temporary branch in Lapeer in the next 6 to 8 weeks. The new building will be ready about this time next year. There's something else potentially on the horizon with branches in Ann Arbor. Things could get really busy everywhere really soon. It's exciting to be a part of it all.
I don't know what time my folks are going to head over here, so I need to straighten up, get a shower, and then spend the rest of the time in the gazebo enjoying this beautiful day (damn right) doing something that matters.
