Heather almost had her baby on Friday. The baby is breech, and sitting very comfortably in her pelvis. She went into the doctor to see if the baby could be manipulated into the proper position. No go. The doc suggested that they do a cesarean then. That freaked Heather out, who thought she was only going in for the doc to turn the baby. Her blood pressure has risen a little and that's something the doc wants to watch. The outcome for now is that she will call in tomorrow and get a date to have the baby c-section. She's horribly disappointed. She had done so much research and planning and was looking forward to having the baby naturally. She wanted to do everything that was best for the baby to be born healthy. Her due date is the 26th, but the doc says the baby is at term now and will be ok.

Last week, on her doctor's recommendation, she went in to have acupuncture and another alternative method of burning herbs to try and get the baby to turn. The pressure point for that is the baby toe. Heather told me "at this point, I don't care if they hang me upside down by my ankle in front of a voodoo priestess, I'm willing to try anything."

Well, if it's anything...let's give prayer a shot. Anyone so inclined to ask their deity(ies) for a little baby turning miracle, well, I'd be awfully grateful and Heather too.

In any case, we'll have a miniature Heather in the family very soon.

I will send all my good baby vibes her way! (and I know I have some leftover to share)

It sounds a little bit like my delivery, except I went to the doctor for a visit and did have to have the baby that night via c-section, so I just want to say that everything turned out well for us, and I was only 35 weeks along. Heather being full-term makes everything that much better. I have also heard that pelvic tilts can help the baby turn, but she probably knows that one already. :)

(okay, ending gratuitous advice/information)

Congratulations in advance!

Oh, that is unfortunate, but a healthy baby is better than an unhealthy baby. I'm sure Heather isn't looking forward to the extra recovery time of a surgery, though.

I've only seen this on tv, but you mean they can't just stick their hand in and turn the kid around?

I wish that was more like the hiccups and you could just sneak up, scream *boo!* and solve the problem.

www.spinningbabies.com

The site seems to be down today, but have her check it a little later. I didn't need it, but the site is highly recommended on a lot of pregnancy communities.
