Observing a box has never been this much fun
I'm so dizzy, my world is spinning, like a whirlpool it never ends...

Wheel of Fortune
One of these days I need to figure out what the triggers are for getting hit with vertigo. I had a little allergy action going on, but it sure seemed minor enough. I'm moving at a pretty frantic pace these days, but I'm not feeling stressed. I can't think of anything I did differently or more strenuously. So I'm baffled. It started while we were having dinner at Brian's folks with his sisters and their families. I am pretty sure that if I could have gotten in the same declining position I do at home when I feel this coming on, it would have been done and over with in a few minutes. But I didn't want the fuss with all the family there. By the time we got home it was still in the mildly dizzy stage. I did the decline thing for about 20 minutes then tried to go to bed. As soon as I laid on my back, the room started to wrap around.

Bed spins, anyone? And I wasn't drunk. If I'm going to have bed spins, I want the pleasure of being tanked.

Another 10 minutes declining, and I tried sleep again. Found that if I was on my side, it was minimal. But even flipping over would trigger it. So sleep was erratic. Then all the nausea of the dizziness finally sent me into the bathroom around 4, but by that time, the major spinning was done. Went back to sleep and figured around 7:15 that I wasn't going to go into the office today. I don't like the feeling that the floor is squishy. And I totally don't like listing to starboard in public.

Anyway, my head is evening out, and I get to be home on a gorgeous sunny day. I have a few hours of work today, but other than that, I can relax and let the world get back to solid.

I know allergies can cause fluid in the ears, thus all the ear aches I've dealt with in my life. Maybe you're getting just enough at a critical point in your inner ear that it pulls the string on your spinning top? Ever tried taking a decongestant when you felt the dizziness coming on? Some Sudafed maybe? ...Just a thought.

I had another bout with BPV about a month ago... and I was having allergy issues at the same time. My first attack I had a cold. I think you may be onto something.

I feel you- I can lay on one side, but any movement from that position cause the room to churn when this is going on.

Listing to starboard!!!! Love that description. I was at a conference the morning after my last bout kicked in. My coworkers found it amusing that I was teeter-totting as I walked. Listing to Starboard is a much better description.

Hope it passes quickly. Keep an albow on the wall while in the shower. :)

For some reason, the best way for me to keep it under control is to keep a very conscious eye on my stress level, and how I'm internalizing it. If I let myself push it down, and allow it to fester, I will get hit.

Nope, that's the problem with treating it. It's definitely something to do with my inner ear. But exactly what, no one can say. There are these natural forming crystals there and something happens sometimes and a few get loose and simulate the end of a heavy drinking binge. It could be a virus, it could be allergies, it could be a number of things, but what it's not is anything serious. It's just a majorly annoying thing.
