Brian and I went to the DSO last night to hear Patricia Barber. What a quirky woman is attached to that magnificent voice. My favorite moment was when she walked on stage and sat at the piano, then removed her ankle boots...then looked at the audience with a smirk, and removed her socks as well. She's a very visceral musician.
The concert was good, but I really like my jazz best in a dark club better than the tight seats at the Max M. Fisher.
Also, anyone who doesn't turn off the volume of their cell phones when in a theater should be shunned and lose their cell phone rights for a month. I simply cannot believe how rude people are. Just withing a few rows of me there were two such individuals. And one of them took the call, giggling and hiding. Her cell rang twice. And this woman was easily in her 50's and should know better. The gentleman next to her actually shook her shoulder in consternation. Rudeness baffles me. I want to thwart it.
Come out and win!
