I apologize to anyone who feels offended. I apologize that you feel offended, but I am not sorry for this post.

It cracks me up how there seems to be an equal amount of people who feel superior because they are supporting the 'strike' as there are people who feel superior because they aren't supporting it.

Human nature fascinates me.

Agreed. I'm annoyed with LJ for what I perceive to be blind commercialism and overhandedness, but I'm still very conflicted as to how far a "suitable" reply on my part should be.

I'm mostly ignoring it, but I don't feel superior about that. Can I feel superior about not feeling superior? ;)

Let's do that! Feeling superior with no actual action needed to accomplish the feeling.

Hooray, we have found a low-impact way of feeling superior, thus rendering us superior to all those people who have to do work to feel superior!

I need something to feel superior about. ;)

(Though I don't know that an LJ "strike" will do the trick.)

Oh honey, there are SO many legitimate things for you to feel superior about!!!

Awww. :)

When can you take Missy out for the year?

Yes. What we need is a gas out.

The question is, are you feeling superior for noting everyone else's feelings of superiority?

I'm trying really hard to not get stuck in that snotty superiority trap -- I find every time I let myself get uppity, someone or something smacks me down. I might finally be learning not to do that -- it might only take 10-20 times more before I get a clue. :-D

Every time I've thought of posting about this issue, I've just stopped myself. No one else needs to know my opinion, nor do I expect them to care. A tempest in a teapot isn't the kind of friendly seas I'm looking to moor in these days.

I'm still torn on how I ultimately feel and may just end ignoring it.

It's kind of like voting independent...you can say it matters, but in reality, it just helps one of the two major candidates when all the ballots are counted.

I only posted my poll because it kind of hit me by surprise and I was genuinely curious about some aspects, but I didn't want to let my journal become a debate forum. I guess I didn't care -that- much *grin*

This post was prompted by several comments I saw in friend's posts where the arrogance was palpable. Honestly...does it all really matter at all? SUP did offer a nice apology for the way it was handled. *shrug* It's a business and the clients are mostly faceless and easily replaceable.

I believe my offense meter has been broken for quite some time; of late, very few things prompt me to take a stand so impassioned that I feel like it's important to let other people know about it.

I mostly find that I tend to fall into only echoing things to other people who already agree with me anyway, and what good is that? So few people (me included all too often) can debate peaceably and I would rather not spend my time getting into a bad mood or losing friendships over things.

It might be an Internet thing too; I find I can disagree agreeably in person, but the desire to flame online is pretty strong, with very few checks in place to stop foot-in-mouth disease from breaking out. It's pretty rare I end up feeling good just because I got to post a "FAIL" cat macro in a flame thread.
