This is our area. We added a few more large stuffed animals when Becky from Lapeer arrived with her kids, but it got too busy for me to take more pics. Hanging from the inner tent structure were about 20 signs with EIEIO and animal sounds that I airbrushed on Friday night. The back of the tent and the front polls had really cute foam animal masks attached. Holly dressed as a cow, Holly was our Farmer, and I was a crow. Becky's kids were a cat, a mouse, and a rabbit and handed out most of the goodies. The weather was wonderful, but occasionally windy as we found out when the tent flipped on us. All of the decorations were in still in place, but two of the tent legs got bent. Brian helped set up and stayed the whole day with us, which was really awesome.
I got a lot of comments and compliments on my costume. I think the local paper took a picture as well. I'm hoping that Kate will tell us if we make the paper. The rest of my costume was a black shirt with black capris. I tied a black feather boa around my neck which gave me a decidedly bird like figure *grin*. I had a second black feather boa that I made into a really ideal bird tail that I attached to my belt and I had black and burgundy wings that match my hair. I got called everything from "look at the silly bird" to "mama, is she a hawk??" I loved the booth that had 3 alpaca in costume! One of the alpaca was fascinated by me and wouldn't stop staring!
However, when all was said and done, I was able to make an unusual unique statement. Yesterday, I confused an alpaca and scared a mermaid.
Afterward, we met up for dinner and great conversation with Kate and Ben, which was the perfect cap for the day.
